The power grid is a network of cable through which electricity is transported from power stations to homes, schools and other places. The Eastern Interconnect, the Western Interconnect and the Texas Interconnect are three systems that make up the power grid for the continental United States.

The Photovoltaic modules produce direct current (DC) electricity. Most modern appliances and electronic equipment use alternating current (AC) electricity. The power inverter converts the DC electricity from the PV modules into AC electricity that can be used in the classrooms.
